The RNZAF
New Zealand’s Airborne Surveillance and Response Force (ASRF) is provided by No. 5 Squadron. After the retirement of the Air Force's Lockheed P-3K2 Orion aircraft in early 2023, No. 5 Squadron is now operating four Boeing P-8A Poseidon aircraft.
By working with our Pacific partners we support efforts to enforce rules and regulations developed by the Forum Fisheries Agency and Western and Central Pacific Fisheries Commission, which in turn support local economies and ensure the fisheries stocks in the region remain sustainable for future generations.
The Air Component Commander, Air Commodore Andy Scott was accompanying the crew on the latest patrol.
“It was an honour to meet with Prime Minister Tagelagi and his team and to hear of how our collective efforts support this most precious resource.”
