Waiouru Water Notices

Ruapehu District Council has issued a boil water notice this morning for consumers on its water network within the Waiouru Township, following a water main break in the network.

This boil water notice does not apply to Waiouru Military Camp, the Defence housing estate or the National Army Museum. The water main break occurred downstream of the Defence boundary, and the water supply on the Defence Estate is unaffected.

Results from another round of water quality testing were received at yesterday and have been added to the table below. Aluminium levels all continue to meet the drinking water standard at all locations.

After receiving compliant sample results, Waiouru Military Camp and surrounding residents are advised that the Do Not Drink water notice has now been lifted, and the water can be used as normal.

The Do Not Drink Water notice for Waiouru township remains in place until further notice.

A precautionary do not drink notice is in effect for Waiouru after a water sample indicated a level of aluminium above the maximum allowable under the Drinking Water Standards for NZ.
