Marking 80 years since the Battles of Cassino
A NZDF contingent is in Italy to honour those who fought and died in what were among the most gruelling battles for New Zealand forces in the Second World War. The contingent will support the New Zealand National Commemorative Service at the Cassino War Cemetery and a New Zealand Service of Remembrance at the Cassino Railway Station.

Wai 2500 Military Veterans Kaupapa Inquiry
The Wai 2500 Military Veterans Kaupapa Inquiry is hearing claims involving past Māori military service. Its purpose, in addition to determining the Treaty of Waitangi consistency of Crown Conduct, is also to prepare an official narrative that will put Māori experiences of military service on public record, and consider how to improve support for veterans, current serving personnel and their whānau.

2/1 Battalion RNZIR new Colours
The current Colours of 2nd/1st Battalion, Royal New Zealand Infantry Regiment (RNZIR) were presented in March 1980. Made of silk, after more than 44 years of general wear and tear they are now at the end of life.
The new King’s and Regimental Colours will be presented at Burnham Military Camp on 31 October.

Invictus Games 2025
New Zealand have a team of 19 competing at the 2025 Invictus Games in Canada. The seventh Invictus Games take place in Vancouver and Whistler from 8-16 February 2025. The 2025 Invictus Games is the first hybrid winter games, providing a global platform to expand the range and profile of winter adaptive sport.
Our team is made up of both serving and past members, including veterans, of the New Zealand Defence Force.
