Going Under! Our divers are the poster team for our July edition of Navy Today, as they refine their techniques with stealthy rebreather equipment in a secluded bay in the far North. We meet HMNZS Manawanui’s new Commanding Officer, and find out what it takes to become qualified as a ship’s diver. A Devonport local writes an article about the excitement of watching a Navy graduation through the fence, and we profile some of our newest qualified officers. Navy historian Gerry Wright talks about Navy life in the fifties, as we progress towards our 80th anniversary this year.

This June edition shows Navy re-introducing Surface Supplied Breathing Apparatus diving into its capability. We travel to Marlborough to watch the Seasprites learning to fly in mountains, and our hydrographers working with the NZ Police on body recovery exercises. HMNZS Matataua get into community work in Whakatane, while HMNZS Aotearoa visits Wellington. We celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Navy Museum and publish the historical accounts of Ken Searle, Fleet Air Arm, who arrived in England just too late for the war.
