Cooperation in the Pacific and the Defence Capability Plan were key areas of discussion during the various meetings, as well as a visit to the NZDF Command and Staff College and Headquarters Joint Forces New Zealand in Trentham.
General Carignan’s visit to New Zealand reinforced the strong bonds between both militaries, and the shared values across many areas in the defence and security space.
The two Chiefs also discussed the ongoing support provided and commitment to Ukraine as part of Ukraine’s self-defence against Russia’s illegal invasion, and took part in a wreath laying at Pukeahu National War Memorial Park.
During her visit, General Carignan also met with Canadian Armed Forces personnel who are currently based in New Zealand as part of exchange programmes between the two countries.
