The South Vietnamese Campaign Medal
Overview
The Government of South Vietnam awarded the South Vietnamese Campaign Medal to New Zealand and Australian forces who served for six months in Vietnam between 1964 and 1973. The Sovereign approved the wearing of the South Vietnamese Campaign Medal by eligible New Zealand personnel in 1966.
Description
The Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal is a white enameled six-pointed star with six golden rays between the arms of the star. The centre features a green enameled circle with three painted flames superimposed over a golden map of Vietnam. The reverse bears an engraving of the word "VIET-NAM" enclosed within a circle and surrounded by the inscription "Chiến Dịch" (Campaign) and "Bội Tinh" (Medal).
The ribbon is green with three vertical white stripes.
The date clasp ‘1960’ was issued with the medal.

Wearing this medal
The South Vietnamese Campaign Medal is approved for wear by eligible individuals. It is worn with foreign awards in the New Zealand Order of Wear. Foreign campaign medals are worn in order of date of participation in the campaign, operation, or peacekeeping mission for which the medal was awarded.
