Overview
The Silver Jubilee Medal 1935 was issued to celebrate the Silver Jubilee of King George V (1911 - 1935). It was awarded in large numbers to citizens of the British Empire including New Zealanders both military and civilian.
Description
The Silver Jubilee Medal is silver and circular in shape. The obverse bears the conjoined effigies of King George V and Queen Mary, crowned and robed, facing left. The legend around the top edge reads "GEORGE V AND QUEEN MARY MAY VI MCMXXXV". The reverse features the Royal cypher 'GRI' between the dates 'MAY 6 1910' and 'MAY 6 1935'.
The ribbon is dark red, edged with three narrow stripes of dark blue, silver and dark blue.
There are no clasps or bars for Coronation or Jubilee Medals.
Eligibility
The Silver Jubilee Medal 1935 was awarded to the Royal Family and selected officers of state, officials and servants of the Royal Household, ministers, government officials, mayors, public servants, local government officials, members of the navy, army, air force and police in Britain, her colonies and Dominions.

Wearing this medal
The Silver Jubilee Medal 1935 is worn with the Jubilee, Coronation Medals, and New Zealand Commemoration Medals in the New Zealand Order of Wear. It is always worn after King George V's Coronation Medal 1911 and before King George VI's Coronation Medal 1937.
