The Royal New Zealand Air Force Long Service and Good Conduct Medal.
Overview
The Royal New Zealand Air Force Long Service and Good Conduct Medal is awarded to non-commissioned RNZAF personnel for fourteen years of unblemished service. It was instituted in 1985 to replace the Royal Air Force Long Service and Good Conduct Medal which had been in use in New Zealand since 1947. Eligibility for the New Zealand award was backdated to those serving on or after 1 December 1977 to include personnel who had been released since that time.
In 2020, the length of required unblemished service was reduced from fifteen to fourteen years, and clasps are now awarded for each additional seven years of unblemished service. These changes were also backdated to include those who served at any time since 1 December 1977. Under the 1985 warrant, clasps were awarded for each additional fifteen years of unblemished service.
Non-commissioned RNZAF personnel who completed their service prior to 1 December 1977 required eighteen years of unblemished service to be awarded the Royal Air Force Long Service and Good Conduct Medal.
There are no post-nominal letters for this medal.
