The King Charles III Coronation Medal
Overview
The King Charles III Coronation Medal was issued by the United Kingdom in 2023 and recognises service in support of the coronation of King Charles III on 6 May 2023. Members of the United Kingdom Armed Services who provided active contributory service to the official constitutional Coronation events, including those who contributed to the delivery of the event or provided a supporting or enabling function before, during, or after the Coronation.
Thirty-one New Zealand Defence Force personnel have been recognised with the King Charles III Coronation Medal for their active contribution in London to the King’s Coronation.
Description
The King Charles III Coronation Medal is circular in shape and silver in colour. The obverse features a double portrait of Their Majesties. On the reverse, is a version of the Royal Cypher, a laurel wreath, and the date of the Coronation.
The ribbon has red, blue, and white vertical stripes, the Union Flag colours.

Eligibility
New Zealand citizens who:
- Actively contributed to the official coronation events in Westminster Abbey and processions, and other officially recognised ceremonial Coronation events;
- Recipients of the George Cross or of the Victoria Cross.

King Charles III's Coronation Medal 2023 (United Kingdom) is worn with the Jubilee, Coronation Medals, and New Zealand Commemoration Medals in the New Zealand Order of Wear. It is always worn before The New Zealand 1990 Commemoration Medal.
