Royal Australian Air Force F-35A flying schedule

Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF) Base Ohakea will host the first visit to New Zealand by Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) F-35A Lightning II stealth fighter jets from 8-10 September 2026.

RAAF F-35A Flying Schedule: 8 September

  • 12.00-12.30pm | Arrival
    Arrival Base Ohakea (via Waiouru, Manawatū and Hawke’s Bay Region). 

  • 3.00-4.30pm | PM flight
    Manawatū and Hawke’s Bay Region
    Take off Base Ohakea to Waiouru.
    From Waiouru to South East to the coast, South along the coast and west back to Waiouru.

RAAF F-35A Flying Schedule: 9 September

  • 9.30-11.00am | AM Flight
    Manawatū and Hawke’s Bay Region
    Take off Base Ohakea and fly east coast of Hawke’s Bay.

  • 3.00-4.30pm | PM flight
    Manawatū and Hawke’s Bay Region
    Take off Base Ohakea to Waiouru.
    From Waiouru to South East to the coast, South along the coast and west back to Waiouru. 

RAAF F-35A Flying Schedule: 10 September

  • 9.30-11.00am | AM Flight
    Marlborough and Canterbury Region
    Take off Base Ohakea heading to Marlborough and Canterbury Region.
     
  • 1.00pm | Departure
    West from Base Ohakea back to Australia.
