The New Zealand Memorial Scroll

Overview

The New Zealand Memorial Scroll was awarded to the next of kin of New Zealand service personnel who lost their lives in New Zealand between 1939 and 1945, or who later died as a result of their service.

The next of kin of those who died overseas while on active service, or later from their wounds were awarded the New Zealand Memorial Cross (King George VI)

Description

The illustrated scroll was intended to be framed and measured 8 by 13 inches.

Eligibility

The Scroll was awarded to the next of kin of all New Zealand service personnel who lost their lives in New Zealand during the period 1939 to 1945 or who subsequently died as a result of their service. 

Note: There is no Royal Warrant for the New Zealand Memorial Scroll. Administration instructions are included in the Regulations issued in 1947.  For more information, please see the Extract from the New Zealand Gazette, dated 2 October 1947. (PDF, 38 KB)
