Are you a young woman with an interest in Science, Technology, Engineering or Maths (STEM)? New Zealand needs more women in our maritime industry as engineers, technicians, operators and more! You have more choices than you probably realise.

Could a maritime career be the perfect future for you? We're giving students from around New Zealand a chance to spend a week on board with us to find out! The marine industry offers something for everyone, whether you want to spend your days on the water or keep your feet firmly planted on the shore! 

School to Seas residential camps are open to young women in Year 12 or 13 who are currently studying maths and science. If this is you (or will be you in the next few years), register your interest below to be kept up to date!

What does the programme involve?

  • Learn the basics of life onboard a ship

  • Get hands-on experience with machinery, robotics and electronics

  • Grow confidence and learn how to apply 'real life' STEM skills  

  • Plan and execute a real navigation exercise  

  • Develop your leadership and resilience skills during our specialist workshops

  • Mix and mingle with our fantastic service personnel who were once just like you, looking to make a decision about their future!

  • Ask questions, make new friends and see if a career in the Navy or other maritime organisations could be the role for you!

Applicants must be:

  • A female student in Year 12 or 13 at the time of the residential camp

  • Studying NCEA Level 2/3 (or equivalent) with at least one maths AND one science subject

  • Healthy with a moderate level of fitness

  • Motivated with a positive attitude

  • Have an interest in the marine environment
