The Royal New Zealand Air Force Band (RNZAF) will be bringing the big hits to Wellington College on Sunday 8 November. This free one-off concert will involve the 55-piece band playing a varied programme, from traditional military favourites to more modern tunes.

“Every time we play in Wellington it feels special,” said Bandmaster, Sergeant Ben Robertson.

“The crowds are always up for a good time and the atmosphere is great. We love being able to bring some joy to the community for free.”

It will be the third time the band has played at Wellington College but the first time performing in the state-of-the-art Alan Gibbs Centre.

The part-time, Reserve Force band is based in Wellington and plays at military parades and ceremonial events, as well as military tattoos, pageants and major sporting and community events. Its members range from  a Hataitai brewery owner to a world class euphonium player from Ngaio.

“Most of our members are Welly natives and feel extra motivated to do some showing off for their home crowd,”  said Bandmaster, Sergeant Ben Robertson.

“We really encourage everyone to come and see us perform. We’ve got some real local Welly talent on display, it’s going to be great fun”.
