Greetings and welcome to the NZDF Command and Staff College web pages. Within a few clicks you’ll see the dynamic environment and rewarding features that New Zealand’s premier military education institution has to offer. Key to the success of the College is the quality of our Staff and the calibre of visiting lecturers who deliver our programmes. Quality is the critical word, so whilst we may be one of the smaller Command and Staff Colleges internationally, we pride ourselves on delivering a level of education that we believe is second to none. One of the unique features of New Zealand’s Command and Staff College is the residential factor. By living with and learning from each other, course members have the added advantage of the collegial nature that this environment brings. These friendships and connections will last a lifetime.
Each of our programmes consists of the finest lecturers and presenters that New Zealand has to offer. Our relationship with Massey University in the delivery of our undergraduate and post graduate course is a key factor in sustaining the credible reputation that we have developed over the past 60 years. We are continually looking to learn from other international colleges and have recently established relations with the US Army and US Navy War Colleges. These complement our traditional links with the Australian, Singaporean and United Kingdom Command and Staff Colleges which assist us in benchmarking and measuring up globally.
Another factor critical to the long-term success of the College is our Alumni organisation which aims to keep our graduates informed and connected with each other. If you are a past graduate, click on the Alumni link and re-establish yourself with the College – we’d love to hear from you.
At the Command and Staff College our purpose is quite clear – to prepare emerging leaders for the defence and security challenges of tomorrow. If you are considering undertaking one of our programmes, I can only offer my encouragement to take this opportunity. I am certain that with the right approach you will truly have a life experience to remember.
