Over the term of this SOI there will be significant change in the way services are delivered to veterans. The focus of these changes will be to improve the level of service delivery to veterans. These changes are essential to meet the changing demographic profile and needs of the veteran community.
These changes will be underpinned by a new piece of legislation that will ensure that we have the legislative basis in place to effectively support an improved level of service delivery and allow the focus to be on rehabilitation and the promotion of long term wellbeing.
In accordance with Section 39(2)(b) of the Public Finance Act 1989, as amended by the Public Finance Amendment Act 2004, I certify that this Statement of Intent for Veterans’ Affairs - Defence is consistent with the policies and performance expectations of the Government.
