- Compensation
- A payment in return for loss or injury suffered as a result of Service
- Conditions
- Disablement, illness, injury, or general ill health
- Entitlements
- A broad term encompassing compensation, recognition, benefits, pensions and/or anything else that might be granted under the new Act
- Non-operational service
- Domestic, routine, and/or all other service not qualified as operational
- Qualifying operational service
- Service qualified by designated authorities as a military action involving features of risk or potential exposure to hardship
- Recognition
- Any form of appreciation or reward for service other than financial compensation
- Service member
- For the purposes of this document, it includes all current and former members of the Armed Forces within the New Zealand Defence Force. Used interchangeably with ‘Service personnel’
