The New Zealand contingent's primary roles include transport duties, escorting convoys and providing driver training and license testing for other personnel within the Multinational Force and Observers (MFO). The MFO aims to ensure the security provisions of the Egyptian-Israel Treaty of Peace are adhered to and any violations are reported.

The New Zealand contingent is based at North Camp in the North of the Sinai peninsula.
