What was the NZDF contribution?
The NZDF's assistance to Bosnia finished on June 29, 2007. The final rotation included 11 personnel. Eight of these personnel worked in a Liaison and Observation Team (LOT) and the other three work in the European Union Force in Bosnia (EUFOR) HQ.
What was their role?
The Kiwi troops worked with other (EUFOR) personnel to keep weapons off the street and foster good relationships between local organisations. EUFOR aims to monitor compliance with the Dayton Peace Accord in support of a safe and secure environment in Bosnia.
Where was the contingent based?
The New Zealand personnel in Bosnia-Herzegovina were based in Banja-Luka and Prijedor.
Who commanded the contingent?
A senior NZDF officer was appointed the Senior National Officer for the contingent in theatre.
Commander Joint Forces New Zealand Rear Admiral Jack Steer remains responsible for operational command of all deployed NZDF personnel.
