Stand and Deliver

Moving Towards a World-Class Defence Force

CDF, Lieutenant General Jerry Mateparae, is the overall sponsor of the DTP. WN-07-0187-01. The Defence Transformation Programme (DTP) has a clear direction set out for the next year.

The DTP was set up to help the Defence Force move towards a single organisational approach in its support functions so they become more efficient and effective, freeing up more resources for our operational activities.

Over the past few months the DTP has been driving significant structural changes in several areas across its three streams – Human Resources Management, Headquarters and Logistics. Major decisions made recently include the setting up of a new HR Service Centre in Upper Hutt. This will see the centralisation of most HR advice and administration.

A green light has also been given to a single point of accountability for delivering training and education throughout the Defence Force. In July, the stand up of the Defence Logistics Command provided a sound structure for continuing the consolidation of logistics functions, processes and people. The DTP has enabled about $130 million of savings since its inception.
