To raise awareness of ANZAC Day, the NZDF has launched OP ANZAC SPIRIT, a design competition for Year 7 to 8 students.
New Zealand and Australia have a long history of working alongside one another that goes back to the first ANZACs in the First World War. Today the defence forces of New Zealand and Australia continue to work together on operations and exercises around the world.

How to enter
Design a poster showing what ANZAC Day means to you. This can be in the medium of your choice (drawing, painting, collage etc) but please no items larger than A3 size. Entries close 25 April.
Winners will be announced on 5 May.

The important part – the prizes
There are three prizes up for grabs:
- A day with the Navy, plus a copy of The Reluctant Hero signed by Corporal Willie Apiata VC.
- A day with the Army, plus a copy of The Reluctant Hero signed by Corporal Willie Apiata VC.
- A day with the Air Force, plus a copy of The Reluctant Hero signed by Corporal Willie Apiata VC.
Four runners up will be awarded a prize pack of NZDF products.
