New Principal Defence Chaplain

New Principal Defence Chaplain Don Parker. WN-08-0019-04. Chaplain Don Parker is the new Principal Defence Chaplain.

He officially takes over the role from the outgoing principal chaplain John Neal on January 12 2009.

A special service was held at Old St Paul's Church in Wellington on 3 December to hand over the mantle of office.

The service was attended by members of the NZDF, including CDF, LTGEN Jerry Mateparae, as well as family and friends, and was officiated by the Bishop of Wellington, the Rt Rev Tom Brown.

Bishop Brown acknowledged Padre Neal’s contribution to the chaplaincy. He presented Chaplain Parker with his Bishop’s license, and WGCDR Neal placed the Principal Defence Chaplain’s scarf around Chaplain Parker’s neck.

The service concluded with a prayer lead by Padre Neal, a blessing by Bishop Brown, and the NZDF hymn.
