Operationalising the Territorial Force was the theme of the TFA Seminar 2008 held in Wellington earlier this month.
A 70-strong group of both Territorial Force (TF) and Regular Force personnel attended the seminar, along with two overseas guests, Brigadier General Gary O’Brien, from Canada, and Brigadier Bruce Cook, Australia’s Director Reserve Forces.
Part of the seminar was devoted to discussing how reserve forces can best meet the requirements of the NZDF, and what needs to be done to prepare them for operational commitments. Its recommendations are being considered by Defence’s Executive Leadership Team.
Brigadier General O’Brien spoke on Lessons learned by Reserves in Combat, and Brigadier Cook, spoke to the seminar about the future of Australia’s Army reserve.
Colonel Martin Dransfield, of the NZ Army’s Office of Strategic Management was also a guest speaker.
The seminar concluded with a formal dinner.
