NZDF Women’s team.
Our NZDF men’s and women’s volleyball teams recently took part in the New Zealand National Tournament in Auckland.
Overall the teams did reasonably well with the women’s team winning two and losing four of their games, playing 19 sets over the four days placing 11th in the premier division.
The men won two out of the seven games they played, losing three games with agonisingly close scores. They played an arduous 27 sets over the four days and placed fifth in the premier division.

Team Coach for the women’s and captain of the men’s team, Glen Whitton said, ‘Both teams should come away from this tournament with their heads held high as they represented the NZDF professionally and at the highest level, footing it against the best players in the country and coming away from this competition with some good results. Of particular note, was the NZDF men’s team receiving the coveted Spirit of the Tournament award, awarded to the team for showing the most diligence towards their duty of games and professional gamesmanship on and off the court.’
