The Royal New Zealand Navy celebrates its 67th birthday today, and celebrated over the weekend with a Church service on Sunday 28th September at Old St Paul's and a reception at the Boatshed on 29 September.

The theme for this year's Church Service was 'The Sea Services' celebrating the work of the Merchant Navy and the Royal New Zealand Navy.

The Chief of Navy, Rear Admiral David Ledson, gave the welcome address and spoke about the Merchant Navy and their service and sacrifice made during WWII and still performed today. Mr Ian Dymock of the Wellington branch of the Merchant Navy gave the main address.
