Officer cadets march on Mangakino

12 September 2008

The future leaders of the New Zealand Army will be put to the test by scenarios experienced in today’s conflict situations when they exercise in Mangakino and its rural surrounds during September.

The officer cadets will be in Mangakino from the early morning of 13 September and they will depart from the area on the 26th. Twenty soldiers from Linton-based16th Field Regiment will also be participating in the training activity.

At times the exercise will involve blank firing, pyrotechnics, a Light Armoured Vehicle (NZ LAV) and the use of Royal New Zealand Air Force UH1H Iroquois helicopters.

The Army apologises for any inconvenience or disturbance the activity may cause and thanks the wider-Mangakino community for their patience and support.

ENDS
