The first of the Navy’s ANZAC Class frigates, HMNZS TE KAHA, will arrive in Lyttleton on Friday 15 August and depart Monday 18 August at 10.00am.
HMNZS TE KAHA has recently been engaged in maintenance on the various systems on board that enable the ship to fight, move and float. TE KAHA is now enjoying a relatively rare opportunity to visit ports in New Zealand before deploying to South East Asia and Australia next month.
In Lyttleton the ship will host various guests on board including Ship’s Tours for Veterans and Cadets and an Open afternoon for the general public.
On Monday 18 August at 9.00am, TE KAHA’s Commanding Officer, Commander Mat Williams, will welcome on board the winner of last year’s school art competition “Operation Warpaint”, Daniel Wootton of St Andrew’s College Prep School. Daniel will sail on the ship from Lyttleton and will disembark at Kaikoura.
Commander Williams and his crew extend a warm welcome to the public of Canterbury to visit the ship and meet the personnel of your Navy on Sunday 17 August between 12.30pm and 4.00pm.
HMNZS TE KAHA will depart Lyttleton on Monday 18 August at 10.00am.
