The New Zealand Army’s 16 Field Regiment will fire a 37 gun salute on Sunday at the Basin Reserve, Wellington to commemorate the life of each soldier that was killed in action in the Vietnam War.

Friday 30 May
4.00pm - Welcome at Civic Square followed by Beat Retreat ceremony at sunset.
Saturday 31 May
10.00am to 11.00am - Honour March from Civic Square along Willis Street and Lambton Quay to Parliament.
From 11.00am - Whakanoa at Parliament including the Parliamentary Welcome by the Prime Minister. This will be followed by the Vigil, where the families of those killed in action will carry photos of their loved ones to the Legislative Chamber where they can be honoured by family, veterans and the public until midnight Saturday.
Sunday 1 June
9.30am – Memorial Service at the National War Memorial at Buckle Street. This will be followed by a march to the Basin Reserve.
From 10.30am Commemoration and Celebration - Vietnam veterans and their families will be honoured by the public and dignitaries followed by an NZ Defence Force ceremony featuring a 100-man Guard of Honour, NZ Army Band, Central Band of the RNZAF, 1RNZIR receiving their Regimental Colour with the updated Theatre Honour and an RNZAF flypast of Iroquois helicopters.
