Warriors@Wigram, an action packed family fun family day celebrating the Navy, Army, and Air Force, will be held at the Air Force Museum at Wigram, Christchurch on Sunday 11 February 2007.
“Aerial displays involving the RNZAF’s Iroquois helicopters, Harvard, Boeing 757 and Hercules aeroplanes, the Red Checkers aerobatic team, and the Kiwi Blue parachute squad will thrill viewers with their aerial skills,” said Air Force Museum spokesperson Karen Shepard.
“Seeing the Boeing 757 being put through its paces is a unique and special event and will be one of the highlights of the day,” she said.
The Army will be demonstrating the abilities of their new vehicles, including a complete strip and rebuild of an Army Landrover and a Unimog camouflage competition.
A Navy Seasprite helicopter will be flying in and static displays will allow the public to get a hands-on naval experience.
“During the day teams from the Navy, Army and Air Force will take part in a series of challenges including an obstacle course, which will also be open the public, and a tug-of-war with a Unimog. The winning team will donate part of the day’s takings to their charity of choice,” said Ms Shepard.
The grand finale for the day will be a simulated battle, involving the Army and Air Force in a quest to secure a vital control point.
Tickets for Warriors@Wigram will be available on the day, prices are as follows: adult $10, child $5 child, family $20 and includes access to the Air Force Museum.
