Chinese Navy ships to visit Auckland

The Peoples Liberation Army Navy Ship’s HAERBIN (DDG112), a LUHU Destroyer and HONGZEHU (AOR881), a FUQING class Tanker will visit Auckland from Sunday 7 October to Wednesday 10 October.  Both Ships will berth at 10:00 am on 7 October - HAERBIN at Princes Wharf and HONGZEHU at Wynyard Wharf.  

During the Auckland visit a combined Royal New Zealand Navy Band and Peoples Liberation Army Navy Band will perform a concert at the Bruce Mason Centre on Tuesday 9 October commencing at 11:00 am. 

Members of the public will get a chance to tour one of the ships when HAERBIN holds an open day from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm on Tuesday 9 October – the general public are warmly welcome to visit the ship and meet her crew during this time. Please note for security reasons bags are not able to be taken onboard during the open day.

Official calls, sports events against the Royal New Zealand Navy and a powhiri at Te Taua Moana (Navy Marae) as well as the chance for the crews of the Chinese ships to experience the sights and sounds of the City of Auckland are on the agenda for the visit.

Both HAERBIN and HONGZEHU will depart Auckland at 10:00 am on Wednesday 10 October enroute to Wellington.
