The annual New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF) Interservice Netball Tournament will have service personnel from the Navy, Army and Air Force compete over a three day period for the chance to stand on the winner’s podium. Adding an interesting twist, this is the first year that all three services will also field a mixed team for a separate title.
Navy will host the 2007 tournament from Tuesday 28 August to Thursday 30 August at the Devonport Naval Base. On completion of the tournament a NZDF Team will be selected to tour Australia in late September/early October.
Ex Silver Fern Tania Dalton will present the awards at a dinner to mark the end of the Tournament.
Not only is professional pride and loyalty to each individual service at stake, there are five prizes up for grabs. The rankings from last year have the Army first, the Navy second and the Air Force third, so the challenge is on.
As this is officially the first year for the Mixed Category, the field is wide open and is bound to set a solid foundation for future tournaments.
