Warship returning home from operation and diplomatic tasks

Tuesday 17 July, 2007

Navy warship HMNZS TE MANA will return to the Devonport Naval Base at 10:00 am on Thursday 19 July after spending the last six months at sea.

TE MANA departed New Zealand in February to complete a work up period prior to commencing a range of operations and diplomatic taskings around South East Asia, Australia and the Indian sub-continent (Andaman Islands).  After a brief stopover in Sydney last weekend, she started her journey home.

TE MANA, accompanied by the Navy tanker, HMNZS ENDEAVOUR, focused on meeting New Zealand’s commitments to a series of regular training exercises, working alongside the navies of Australia, Malaysia and Singapore honing operational skills.
