Servicemen from Navy, Army and Air Force battle it out on the rugby field

May 14, 2007

The 2007 New Zealand Defence Force Interservice Rugby Tournament will have servicemen from the Navy, Army and Air Force compete over a three day period for the chance to stand on the winners’ podium.

The Interservice Rugby Tournament is an annual sports event hosted on a rolling basis by an individual New Zealand Defence Force Service.

The Navy will host the 2007 tournament at Ngataringa Bay Sports Complex from Tuesday 15 May to Thursday 17 May.  All games are played at 2pm daily.

Not only is professional pride and loyalty to each individual service at stake, there are three prizes - King George V Cup, Walsh Memorial Shield and The Wooden Spoon - up for grabs.

The rankings from last year have the Army first, the Air Force second and the Navy third, so the challenge is on.
