Navy In Shore Patrol craft to visit Napier

HMNZS Ships WAKAKURA, KIWI and KAHU, the Navy’s Inshore Patrol Craft, will berth at the Port of Napier from Friday 4 May until Monday 7 May. 

Up to 36 local secondary school students will have the opportunity for a few hours at sea on Monday 7 May as part of a recruiting initiative.   All ships will sail at 9:00 am to conduct a “Shop Window” – this is a series of training exercises designed to put the ships and crews through their paces, including   Officer of the Watch Manoeuvres (ship driving exercises), sea safety training (fire and flood), man overboard recoveries, ship formation training and first aid scenarios – all will provide an exciting morning of activities for the students before they disembark the ships on arrival back into Napier at 1:00 pm. 
Invitation to the Media

Limited space is available on all three ships for media to join them for the Recruiting Shop Window on Monday 7 May sailing at 9:00 am and returning to Napier at 1:00 pm.  Please register your interest to Lieutenant Commander Barbara Cassin – contact details are below.
