A number of ceremonies will be held in Wellington to commemorate Anzac Day on Wednesday ,25 April.
The Vice Chief of Defence Force (VCDF) Air Vice Marshal David Bamfield, will attend a Dawn Service at the Cenotaph at 5.45am, along with other Wellington-based NZDF personnel.
At the National War Memorial in Buckle Street NZDF personnel will provide a dawn to dusk vigil ceremony over the Tomb of the Unknown Warrior from 6am to 6pm.
A citizens’ service will be held at the Wellington Cathedral of St Paul in Hill Street at 9.45am.
This service will be followed by a wreath-laying ceremony at the Wellington Cenotaph in Lambton Quay.
VCDF and senior Defence Force staff will attend the National Wreath-Laying Ceremony at the National War Memorial at 11am.
A ceremony will also be held at 1.30pm at the Ataturk Memorial at Tarakena Bay, Island Bay. Air Commodore Dick Newlands will represent the New Zealand Defence Force. Wreaths will be laid by the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey His Excellency Mr Uğur Erğun, and The Honorable Marian Hobbs.
