Tsunami Relief - NZDF Update 3

Refugees onboard a RNZAF C-130 Hercules

5 January 2005

An RNZAF C-130 Hercules has resumed flying relief supplies into the Tsunami hit Indonesian region of Aceh.

Yesterday's flight was cancelled after the runway at Banda Aceh was closed.

Today the Hercules will transport tents as well as military and UN passengers in to Aceh.

The second C-130 has now arrived in Jakarta, after deploying 14 members of the NZDF medical team to Butterworth Air Force base in Malaysia.

It's expected the second aircraft will begin flying humanitarian aid into Banda Aceh later today.
