NZDF personnel throughout NZ took part in Movember, a charity event where men are sponsored to grow a moustache. The event raises funds for the Prostate Cancer Foundation of New Zealand. The campaign aims to raise awareness of prostate cancer, a disease that claims the lives of around 600 New Zealand men each year, about the same number of women who die from breast cancer each year.
The campaign was widely embraced by Navy, Army and Air Force personnel as well as civilian staff throughout the country. NZDF participation stretched to deployed personnel in Afghanistan and Timor Leste.
