Historical Images: NZ Soldiers in Belgium and France

Images in this section show NZ soldiers at Messines, in West Flanders and some of the 400-strong kiwi tunnellers who built an underground town at Arras, France.  The remainder show NZ soldiers involved in the Battle of Passchendeale, near the town of Ypres in West Flanders. The battle took place in dire, swampy conditions, but was eventually won by the Canadian Corps in November 1917.
