State Welcome for President of Hungary

The president of the Republic of Hungary, His Exellency Mr Laszlo Solyom, is welcomed onto the grounds of Government House, Auckland, by the Governor General of NZ His Excellency the Honourable Anand Satyanand, PCNZM.

The New Zealand Defence Force paraded a 100-person Guard of Honour of Navy, Army and Air Force personnel as part of the State welcome for the President of Hungary, His Excellency Mr Laszlo Solyom, at Government House in Auckland on Thursday 22 September.

Following a traditional Maori wero the Governor General of New Zealand, the Honorable Anand Satyanand, welcomed Mr Solyom who then inspected the guard of honour. A 21-gun salute was fired from the summit of Mt Eden as part of the State welcome.

On Thursday Mr Solyom attended a wreath-laying ceremony at the Hall of Memories at the Auckland War Memorial Museum.
