Profile video on Royal New Zealand Navy Sub Lieutenant Tarindu Weeramuni.

“I’m Tarindu Weeramuni, I’m thirty-four years old and I am a Sub Lieutenant in the Navy. I have been in the Navy for two and a half years. I joined the navy for the challenge, it was not just a personal challenge but also the fact that I haven’t done anything like this before. I chose to be a Seaman Officer for the challenge and also for the opportunity to command a vessel. You’re basically the hub of control for the whole ship and the responsibility that involves is really big. It’s not always a responsibility you realise straight away because your training kicks in but afterwards you reflect on it and think oh my gosh, I don’t believe I just landed a helo on the flight deck.  So it’s a real accomplishment for me to do what I do as a job and do it well"
