Defence Force Four to walk 100 km for Oxfam

Four Defence Force personnel make up the “Stride to Survive” team who will walk 100km to help children who die of extreme poverty.  Major Wayne Andrews-Paul, Staff Sergeant John Irving, Miss Irina Ermeneanu, and Mrs Samantha Andrews-Paul have spent recent weekends walking for seven hour stretches in preparation for the 100km Oxfam New Zealand "Trailwalker" event,  to be held in Taupo 14 &15 April.

The event is held each year, and has been described as the world's greatest team challenge to overcome poverty and injustice.  It involves a teams of four persons walking non-stop for 100 km around the Taupo region, within 36 hours. It is not a relay and walkers are expected to stick together and finish as a team.

Within that 36 hours it is estimated that over 40,000 children will perish needlessly. The “Stride to Survive” team have committed themselves not only to the walk but also to raise money to assist with Oxfam projects. They would love it if you could show your support by making a donation. Every little bit counts.
