The Royal New Zealand Air Force has a total strength of about 2800 people, located in three bases, RNZAF Bases Auckland (Whenuapai), Ohakea, near Palmerston North, and Woodbourne near Blenheim.
The roles of the three bases are:
Auckland: Transport Squadrons and Maritime Reconnaissance.
Ohakea: Helicopter Operations, Flying Training.
Woodbourne: Ground Training Wing, Repair Depot.
