The Inspector General is responsible for:

the independent audit, assessment and evaluation of Operational Preparedness and Reporting System (OPRES) data
the oversight of the NZDF programme of exercises and evaluations to support assessments of the military capability of NZDF, including the professional military performance of NZDF force elements.
