On 11 April 2018, the Government announced it would conduct an inquiry into Operation Burnham and related matters.
The operation in Afghanistan in which the NZSAS were involved was the subject of the book Hit and Run.
In anticipation of its participation in the Government inquiry, the NZDF has established a Special Inquiry Office.
