Neptune Warrior/Joint Maritime Course is a training activity that provides joint and combined collective training for ships, aircraft and battle staffs from a number of nations in a multi-threat environment. The exercise is conducted in the sea areas and air space around the north and west coasts of Scotland. Neptune Warrior provides invaluable training for NZ's Maritime Patrol Force.

Search and Rescue Missions
- No 5 Squadron One P3 Orion and crew are at continuous two-hour readiness to take-off, or divert from other activities, for search and rescue missions and/or any other contingency operations within New Zealand or South Pacific.
- No 3 Squadron One Iroquois and crew on continuous two-hour readiness in NZ for SAR missions/or any other contingency operation (Police etc).
Maritime Patrol
- Maritime Patrol Force. The RNZAF in support of National Maritime Co-ordination Centre conducts routine patrols of the NZ and South Pacific EEZs, and the surveillance of the Southern Ocean fisheries.
